Our employee safety is of the highest priority, this is more important now more than ever as part of our response to the COVID-19 Pandemic Emergency. VACHS with the extraordinary support of the Laundry Service Team are working together to make 4,000 reusable face masks for employees. This effort will assist VACHS to mitigate the high demand of face mask in our health care environment and ensuring all employees always have a personal face mask available to them.

These masks are not intended for front line staff and direct patient care. The CDC recommends wearing a face mask around other people. “Coronavirus appears to mostly spread when germ-containing droplets make it into a person’s mouth, nose or eyes. If you have a physical barrier in front of your mouth and nose, the spread is simply less likely to happen”. VACHS will therefore provide face masks to all our employees for use personal use.

“We want to ensure all VA Caribbean Employees have a custom made re-usable mask to mitigate the high demand of disposable mask usage in this time of need.”, said Lucy Febus, Logistics Service Chief.

“Laundry Service workers are very proud of participating in this effort to help our staff stay protected, they are working countless hours, and this deserves recognition” said Carlos Charriez and Harold Santos, Laundry Service Supervisors.
