San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Department of Veterans Affairs Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) announces the opening of a new parking garage on the San Juan Medical Center campus.
The seven-story parking garage offers expanded parking for Veterans and visitors. The new facility has 748 parking spaces that include 57 handicap spaces from which 26 are for patients with spinal cord injury or conditions; five elevators and a state of the art parking space counter. This feature will facilitate identification of spaces available by floor right at the entrance of the garage. “We are excited to offer our patients and visitors free covered parking closer to the hospital,” DeWayne Hamlin, VACHS Director, said. “The parking garage is only the one of the many expansions the VACHS has incorporated in recent years to enhance services for veterans.”
To celebrate the opening of the new parking garage, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on March 16, 2016 at 10:00 am in the premises of the San Juan VA Medical Center located in 10 Casia street, Rio Piedras.
The VACHS serves approximately 60,000 veterans living in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
