Reuniones de Comunidad con Veteranos

San Juan, PR – El Departamento de Asuntos de Veteranos llevo a cabo una reunión con los Veteranos de la comunidad. Las reuniones de comunidad en VA están diseñadas para escuchar directamente de los Veteranos sus preocupaciones y recomendaciones sobre los servicios que ofrecemos en nuestras facilidades. Estas reuniones se realizan regularmente trimestral entre nuestras facilidades en San Juan y clínicas de Veteranos de Ponce, Mayagüez, Arecibo e Islas Vírgenes apara mantener un dialogo actualizado con nuestra comunidad de Veteranos.

El director del sistema de salud de Veteranos del caribe, el Sr. Carlos R. Escobar se reunió por primera vez con nuestro Veteranos en conjunto a Daniel Massa representando al director de la oficina regional para Veteranos de San Juan y Natalie Hubble representando el director del cementerio nacional de Puerto Rico.

“Es nuestro privilegio y honor serviles”, fue su declaración inicial al expresar que su interés principal es seguir escuchando y aprendiendo directamente de aquellos que usan nuestro sistema de salud, oficina regional de beneficios y cementerio nacional, dijo Carlos Escobar.

En la reunión los Veteranos dialogaron con nuestro director Carlos Escobar, sus preocupaciones fueron escuchadas y anotadas para seguimiento, nuestro compromiso es continuar mejorando la calidad de servicio a nuestro Veteranos.

La prensa local fue invitada a participar de nuestra reunión con Veteranos, WIPR Noticias 360 grabo el evento y al día siguiente publico una reseña positiva en los medios. El titular lee “Buscan aumentar beneficios y servicios a veteranos en la isla”.

 El Sistema de Salud de Veteranos del Caribe consiste de un centro médico para veteranos en San Juan, Puerto Rico y diez (10) clínicas ambulatorias ubicadas a través Puerto Rico (Arecibo, Ceiba, Comerio, Guayama Mayagüez, Ponce, Utuado, Vieques) y las Islas Vírgenes norteamericanas (Santa Cruz, San Tomas). El sistema ofrece servicios a una población de aproximadamente 82,574 mil Veteranos residentes en Puerto Rico las Islas Vírgenes norteamericanas. El Centro Médico de San Juan incluye instalaciones ambulatorias multidisciplinarias y 280 camas de cuidados agudos operacionales incluyendo 12 camas de rehabilitación ciega y 122 camas operativas para el hogar de ancianos. En el AF 2018, el sistema de salud registró 61.682 pacientes únicos, registró 906.786 visitas ambulatorias y 8.987 admisiones hospitalarias. Veterans Town Hall Meeting

San Juan, PR – The Department of Veterans Affairs held a meeting with the Veterans of the community. VA community meetings are designed to hear directly from Veterans' concerns and recommendations about the services offered at our facilities. These meetings are held on a quarterly basis between our facilities in San Juan, Ponce, Mayagüez, Arecibo and The US Virgin Islands clinics to maintain an updated dialogue with our community of Veterans.

The VA Caribbean Healthcare System Director, Mr. Carlos R. Escobar, met for the first time with our Veterans. Joining our Director was Daniel Massa representing the Director of the regional office for Veterans of San Juan and Natalie Hubble representing the Director of the National Cemetery of Puerto Rico.

"It is our privilege and honor to serve all of you today” was his initial opening statement to the Veterans present. Following Mr. Escobar communicated his main interest as Director, as to continue and maintain an open dialog with our constituents and listen to concerns directly from those who use our health care system, regional benefits office and national cemetery.

At the meeting, Veterans spoke directly to our Director, their concerns were heard and noted for immediate follow-up. Our commitment is to continue improving the quality of service to our Veterans, this was Mr. Escobar’s principle message.

The local press was invited to participate in our Townhall, local news station WIPR News 360 recorded the event, a positive story was published the following day. The headline reads "They seek to increase benefits and services to veterans on the island."

The VA Caribbean Healthcare System (VACHS) is a Joint Commission accredited, complexity system level 1a of care serving Veterans in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. VACHS consists of a tertiary care VA Medical Center (VAMC) located in San Juan, Puerto Rico and 10 Outpatient Clinics (OPCs) throughout Puerto Rico located in Arecibo, Ceiba, Comerio, Guayama, Mayaquez, Ponce, Utuado, Vieques; and the U.S. Virgin Islands located in St. Croix and St. Thomas. The San Juan VA Medical Center includes multi-disciplinary ambulatory facilities and 280 operational acute care beds including 12 blind rehabilitation beds and 122 operational nursing home beds. Services are provided to a population of approximately 82,574 veterans residing in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
