VA Caribbean Healthcare System

Health Informatics Service

Description of Services

Health informatics is a discipline at the intersection of information science, computer science, and health care that designs and delivers information to improve clinical care, individual, public health and biomedical research.

Our service optimizes health-related information acquisition, processing, and using resources and tools that include people and processes; hardware and software; algorithms and data; and information and knowledge.

Drive standards and science-based information technology resources, systems, and solutions for the benefit of Veterans health, their families and those who care for them.

We serve as the focal point for the use and advancement of the VA’s electronic health record (commonly known as computer-based record system, CPRS) and all its internal and external components.
